I’m confused. What is the difference between releasing the club head and “casting. They seem similar to me
I'm not a big fan of the term casting as it hides the real story, as someone who is casting is making a motion in order to hit up. A typical casting scenario sees the player bring the club, from the top of the backswing to the outside (of the target line) and then use an exaggerated wrist action in order to get under the ball at impact and flip up. Just as "you lifted your head" really means you were hitting up and that drove your head up, "you are casting" really means you are hitting up and trying to find a physical wrist action in order to accomplish that. In essence the physical action of the wrist is the same in releasing and casting, but the intent and positioning quite different. This would actually make a good topic for one of our upcoming segments. Not promising, but don't be surprised if you see this addressed soon. Clive
